DVLA rules have changed on the display of black and silver number plates.
Historically they were only permitted on vehicles of pre-1973 and this had been extended to pre-1975 and then rolling change along with free historic road tax whichwas updated each year.
Whilst this is great news for all vehicles forty years and more older as from January 2021, the rolling years update has now been capped to vehicles no later than 1980 and is not expected to change again in the future. This only applies to the display of number plates as the historic vehicle status it to remian (for now) but you never know with DVLA rules. Whislt you may often see newer vehicles with black & silver number plates this is not actually legally permitted.
